Care Instructions

How to properly care for your Zenith Ascent apparel

Proper care of your Zenith Ascent apparel ensures longevity and maintains the quality of our premium materials. Follow these guidelines to keep your garments looking their best.

Basic Care Guidelines

Check the Label

Always check the care label on your garment first, as specific items may have unique care requirements.

Wash Similar Colors

Wash dark and light colors separately to prevent color bleeding and maintain the vibrancy of your garments.

Use Cold Water

Washing in cold water helps preserve colors, prevents shrinking, and is more energy-efficient.

Air Dry When Possible

Air drying is gentler on fabrics and helps maintain the shape and integrity of your garments.

Understanding Care Symbols

Washing

A tub symbol indicates washing instructions. Dots inside represent temperature - more dots mean higher temperature.

Bleaching

A triangle symbol indicates bleaching instructions. An "X" through it means do not bleach.

Drying

A square symbol indicates drying instructions. A circle inside means tumble drying is allowed.

Ironing

An iron symbol indicates ironing instructions. Dots represent temperature settings.

Dry Cleaning

A circle symbol indicates dry cleaning instructions. Letters inside specify the type of solvent.

Cotton Care

Cotton is durable and breathable, but can shrink if not cared for properly.

1

Washing

Machine wash in cold or warm water (up to 40°C/104°F). Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent.

2

Drying

Tumble dry on low heat or line dry. Remove from dryer while slightly damp to minimize wrinkles.

3

Ironing

Iron while slightly damp using a medium to high heat setting. Use steam for best results.

4

Special Notes

Dark cotton may bleed initially. Wash separately for the first few washes. Pre-shrunk cotton is less likely to shrink.

Synthetic Fabrics (Polyester, Nylon, Spandex)

Synthetic fabrics are durable and resistant to wrinkles, but require specific care to maintain their properties.

1

Washing

Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners, which can reduce moisture-wicking properties.

2

Drying

Tumble dry on low heat or air dry. High heat can damage synthetic fibers and cause melting or permanent wrinkles.

3

Ironing

Use a low heat setting and place a press cloth between the iron and fabric to prevent melting.

4

Special Notes

Avoid high heat which can damage synthetic fibers. Turn garments inside out to reduce pilling.

Wool Care

Wool is naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, but requires gentle care to prevent shrinking and damage.

1

Washing

Hand wash in cold water with a wool-specific detergent. Gently squeeze (don't wring) and rinse thoroughly.

2

Drying

Never put wool in the dryer. Lay flat on a towel, roll up to remove excess water, then lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight.

3

Ironing

Use a medium heat setting with steam and a press cloth. Iron inside out to prevent shine.

4

Special Notes

Store wool garments folded, not hung, to prevent stretching. Use cedar or lavender to deter moths.

Denim Care

Denim is durable but can fade and lose shape if not cared for properly.

1

Washing

Turn jeans inside out and wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use mild detergent and wash with similar colors.

2

Drying

Line dry or tumble dry on low heat. Remove from dryer while slightly damp to prevent excessive shrinking and stiffening.

3

Ironing

Iron on a medium-high heat setting. Steam helps remove wrinkles effectively.

4

Special Notes

Wash denim infrequently to preserve color and fit. Spot clean when possible. Raw denim should be worn as long as possible before first wash.

Storage Tips

Clean Before Storing

Always clean garments before storing to prevent stains from setting and to deter pests.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

Store clothing in a cool, dark place to prevent fading and fabric damage.

Proper Hanging

Use appropriate hangers for different garments. Wide hangers for jackets, padded hangers for delicate items.

Use Moth Deterrents

For wool and natural fibers, use cedar blocks, lavender sachets, or mothballs in storage areas.

Solving Common Issues

Shrinking

Prevent shrinking by washing in cold water and avoiding high heat in the dryer. For already shrunken items, try gently stretching while damp.

Color Fading

Wash in cold water, use color-safe detergent, and avoid direct sunlight when drying. Add a cup of white vinegar to the wash to help set colors.

Pilling

Turn garments inside out before washing, use a gentle cycle, and avoid washing with rough fabrics. Remove existing pills with a fabric shaver.

Stains

Treat stains immediately. Blot (don't rub) with a clean cloth and appropriate stain remover. Check garment care labels before using chemical treatments.
